Hello, I guess for the sake of first impressions I should have combed my hair and put on my Sunday best....Wait a minute, I do have on my Sunday best and as far as the hair goes well, that pretty much self explanatory. Since I was a kid I have always enjoyed walking around with a camera pushing the shutter button on anything that interested me. Here about five years ago I decided to get a little more involved with photography -which basically means spend a whole lot more money. After my twin girls were born I decided to get a faster camera -a SLR- to make sure I captured all those precious moments, drooling mouths, a faceful of applesauce, shaving cream all over the bathroom, you know all those moments only a father could love. After about a year of that I took that camera and escaped out to the woods for a little peace and quiet and started photographing subject that cooperated a little better, like weeds, bugs and trees. So, I guess you could say I dedicate my interest to nature photography to my kids. OK, maybe I'm stretching the truth just a tad but I need somebody to blame all this expensive equipment on. Actually what really happened is once I purchased the SLR I took a weekend workshop on Composition to Nature Photography. Along with that I learned to use the manual settings on the camera which gave my more creative control and after that I was hooked. I took a couple more small classes and started doing some reading about cameras and nature photography. On this blog I hope to share some of my photographs along with talking about some tricks and tips I've picked up along the way. I hope you enjoy what you see here (my other photos, not this light hearted self portrait) and feel free to contact me at jrkerral@tds.net if you have any comments, questions or if your interested in purchasing any prints. Thanks for looking, John Kerr |
