THE PHOTO THAT STARTED IT ALL

After completing a nature photography class at a local gallery I was asked along with some other students if I was willing to print and frame three photos that would be displayed at a local coffee shop. The photo above captured the attention of another business owner that was interested in seeing my gallery. "My gallery" I replied, "Those three prints are my gallery." Sure like many out there I had hundreds of photos downloaded on the computer stored away in files collecting cyber dust so I offered to print some off into a small portfolio for his viewing.

I never was able to get back in touch with this person but I credit him for giving me just the push I needed. After I started printing my images I started to get a whole new appreciation for my photographs. I later took those three photos I had in the coffee shop to the Margaret Runyan Gallery in Clio Michigan. I was asked if they could display six images, all matted and framed. Once I got three more images ready my work was displayed and again the photo above captured the eye of a customer and purchased.

Photography for me is: Fascination with nature, The compassion to capture it as natural as I can in an image, and the reward I get seeing it come to life in a print. Just think, it all became possible because of that one little Blacked Capped Chickadee.
